“To Be or Not to Be?” Reciting Shakespeare's Sonnets
On the birthday of famous English playwright William Shakespeare on the initiative of the public organization "English Speaking Union in Ukraine" and the support of the British Embassy in Ukraine there was II (final) stage of the National competition of reciting Shakespeare's sonnets. The competition was held in Kirovograd State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko. Among the contestants there were representatives of secondary and higher educational establishments. More than forty competitors claimed to be the best reciter of William Shakespeare's sonnets.
Kirovograd Flight Academy of NAU was worthily presented by cadets of the Faculty of Management Anastasia Sniegur, Anastasia Denysova (433 group) and Mahmoud Hassan (422 group). The training of the cadets was made under the leadership of Assistant Professor of the Foreign Languages Department Serhiy Radul.
Anastasia Sniegur and Anastasia Denysova demonstrated a high level of reciting, expressive reading. Our participants attracted the attention of the audience and the jury by emotional performing and deep understanding of William Shakespeare’s sonnets. There was a memorable speech of cadet Mahmoud Hassan, who provided a modern, critical interpretation of the chosen sonnet's content.
